Historic project to make Cherokee hot metal type available for the first time in over a century. In conjunction with Frank Brannon of Speakeasy Press, Xenotype’s digital Cherokee was adapted and engraved into matrices at Swamp Press. The project is part of an ongoing effort to support and increase opportunities for Native Speakers to both preserve and expand the use of the syllabary invented by Chief Sequoia back in the early 19th century.
Being a syllabary, this is not an alphabet, but a visual representation of the oral building blocks of Cherokee.
Available in 14, 18, 24, and 36 point sizes.
